People honor Iranian poet Hafez in Shiraz: Photos

People in Iran have gathered in the city of Shiraz to commemorate the world-known poet Hafez Shirazi.

Hafez lovers came together in his mausoleum in Shiraz to celebrate the national day of the Persian poet.

Hafez’s real name is Shamseddin Mohammad. He was born in the southern city of Shiraz. Hafez means the memorizer. He was given the title Hafiz as he could memorize the holy Quran.
